What is a Poseidon's Kiss?

Most of us worry about the cleanliness of the toilet seat... the real problem is what lies beneath and water is the driving force for all nature.

If you have ever spent time dropping objects into water, the poop splash is caused when your poop or urine displaces water, and forms a cavity of air in the fluid at the bottom of your toilet bowl.

Microbes from human faeces can carry a wide range of transmissible Pathogens

Research has shown that microbes from your gut make up 25-54% of faecal matter. Human faeces can carry a wide range of transmissible pathogens: Campylobacter, Enterococcus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus and Yersinia bacteria – as well as viruses such as norovirus, rotavirus and hepatitis A and E, just to name a few.... including today coronavirus!

Peeing while hovering increases the chance and intensity of the splatter.

Women think by squatting they are avoiding microbes on the seat. The problem with “hovering” over the toilet when urinating is that the muscles of your pelvic floor and pelvic girdle – your hip rotators, glutes, back and abs – are extremely tense. This pelvic girdle tension makes it difficult for urine to flow easily, often requiring you to push or “bear down” slightly to make the urine come out quickly. Frequent pushing or bearing down to urinate can contribute to pelvic organ prolapse.

Incomplete emptying of the bladder could ultimately cause increased frequency and urgency of urination, or in extreme cases even contribute to the increased likelihood of a bladder infection.

The problem with squatting

More importantly, peeing while hovering increases the chance and intensity of the splatter - hence increasing chances of contracting pathogens from the bowl.

With Loo Skins, you can sit comfortably on a clean toilet seat and urinate without fear of splatter.

UTI : Urinary Tract Infections

The vast majority of urinary tract infections (UTIs) are caused by the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli), usually found in the digestive system and most toilet bowls.

Over 50 percent of all women will experience at least one UTI during their lifetime, with 20 to 30 percent experiencing recurrent UTIs. Pregnant women are not more likely to develop a UTI than other women, but if one does occur, it is more likely to travel up to the kidneys. This is because changes in the body during pregnancy that affect the urinary tract.

As a UTI in pregnancy can prove dangerous for both maternal and infant health, most pregnant women are tested for the presence of bacteria in their urine, even if there are no symptoms, and treated with antibiotics to prevent spread.

Recurrent or long-lasting kidney infections can cause permanent damage, and some sudden kidney infections can be life-threatening, particularly if bacteria enter the bloodstream in a condition known as septicemia.

They can also increase the risk of women delivering infants that are premature or have a low birth weight.

The Parent & Child Struggle in Public Toilets....

The boy's splish splash

The girl's toilet paper cover fiasco!

Its not practical to travel with potty

Traveling with kids is already laborious.. involving many logistics and items to pack. Carrying a potty and guarding it should not be on this list especially in an age when every items is perceived as germ- laden.

Wet wipes and Sanitizer do not clean the bowl

The lack of toilet paper and soap in public toilets is no longer THE problem because parents almost always carry wet wipes and santizers… however those do not clean the bowl
